Update

This is a blog, anyone can comment on anything I write, including ideas, spelling errors, add links (I think) etc... However once spam starts to appear I will start adding filters. I have added pictures to numerous categories in past couple of days. Keep in mind they may not appear at bottom of those pages as added last, I have the ability to drop and drag where I want. Example; I can keep groups of individuals together as a one crew as I recieve each of thier photos over months, or put strike photos in chronological order by date, but I haven't yet.

I have recieved a lot of info on a raid to Vaires France, pictures, documents, personal letters etc... so I may create a separate page for this raid. This will only be a one time thing to indicate how much data a person could collect if he chose to do so, it's also interesting on how much planning went into a raid. What is posted on Vaires presently will be moved to a new page/topic when complete.

Newspaper Archives is new, many newspapers have digitized thier newspapers, one example is the Canadian War Museum (as contraversial as they are) have a very good data bank of news clippings from WW II, very detailed in search engine. I have posted some entries already. Keep in mind if you have a newspaper clipping of interest to 434 it can also be used.

Research Documents is also new, hopefully adding jpg photos of any document which is useful in research, or of interest. What a lot of us researchers take for granted or know may not be familiar for a student, or relative of an individual whom served in the Armed Forces. Again if you have a document it can be photographed and added to site.

A forum is in the works, deciding about topics, Bombercrew.com has a forum so I do not want to take away from Matt's board, so I will put up a few different topics for another angle on sharing info.

By the way I moved Crew Roster and Mining Campaign from "Links" to the navigation bar on main page, a pdf version/printer friendly (Crew Roster) is hopefully going to be available for download within a week. Mining Campaign is currently on Bombercrew site and will be updated and available to both sites when update complete.

Anyway I'm getting long winded... Alan

Hello Alan: I came across your website while I was looking for more information in my father's RCAF records. He was a Sargent Airframe Mechanic and Hydraulic Specialist ground crew working mostly on Halifaxes and Lancasters at Croft attached to Squadrons 431 and 434. Irecognized the bomber exploding at croft and we have another picture taken only some seconds after your posted picture. I will download your site tommorrow to take to my father to see if he recognizes any of the names. I hope to be able to pass on some enlightening information someday soon. Cheers,
Brian H. Ruddell
